Case summary

Lebanese journalist Maria Maalouf attacked the Secretary General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, inciting Israel to assassinate him. Maalouf wrote on her Twitter account: "If Israel considers Hassan Nasrallah its enemy, then why does it not carry out an air strike that will rid us of it, so we can believe it and protect itself?" Then, a group of lawyers filed intelligence against Maalouf with the Public Prosecution Office, on the charge of incitement to murder and inciting sedition. On April 13, 2018, The first investigating judge in Beirut, Ghassan Oweidat, issued an arrest warrant in absentia against the journalist Maria Maalouf.
